Zaxel Systems, Inc. Relocates to Meet Customer and Employee Growth
Pittsburgh, PA (June 28, 2001) - Due to an intensified growth in the number of employees and customers, Zaxel Systems, Inc. has moved from its location in the Carnegie Mellon NREC facility to the historic Ice House Building in Lawrenceville, at 100 43rd Street in historic Lawrenceville.
"This move allows Zaxel to take part in the revitalization of the Lawrenceville commercial district while reaffirming Zaxel's commitment to the Pittsburgh community" stated Nori Suzuki, President and CEO of Zaxel Systems, Inc. The newly renovated 5,437 square foot space will accommodate the studio, engineering, conference and general office activities. Artists and Cities, a non-profit real estate development organization, converted the 94-year-old Ice House building into office space along with art-related studios, group workshop and rehearsal spaces.
Suzuki further stated "the move from Carnegie Mellon facilities to the Icehouse Building marks Zaxel's evolution from a startup organization to a profit-generating company." Zaxel's growth is a result of efforts to leverage core technologies of Video Servers and Applications and 3D Video Solutions. Since it's incorporation in March of 1998, Zaxel has grown from one to over 15 employees. Zaxel products are in use by both beta and established customers around the world.
About The Ice House
Built in 1907, the Ice House operated as Factory No. 2 of The Consolidated Ice Company, which shipped ice down river from upstate New York and stored it in Pittsburgh for sale. The Chautauqua Ice Company later purchased the building and made ice in both the Icehouse Building and in what is now the Heinz History Center in The Strip District.
